Paste Magazine Top 50 Albums of 2010

Is it just me or does their top 5 seem, sort of, "music critic generic"? Who am I to say, I'm not even able to tell you why I like most of the stuff I like... There's definitely some good writing in here, and they definitely survey a wide variety and large quantity of material to come up with their final lists.

Top 5:

1. LCD Soundsystem, This is Happening
2. Janell Monae, The ArchAndroid
3. Mumford & Sons, Sigh No More
4. Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
5. Titus Andronicus, The Monitor

I'll rant about Mumford and Sons being included. That album isn't even one of the better folk-based albums from the UK this year. Stornoway's "Beachcomber's Windowsill" and Admiral Fallow's "Boots Met My Face" are both better (and Admiral Fallow gets extra points for a great name for their album). Hell, the girlfriend of one of the Mumford crew, Laura Marling, put out a better album than Mumford and Sons

Rock,

I don't think the Mumford & Son is all that special. It's certainly not bad, and folky stuff is usually not my cup of tea anyway, but still I don't get the mountains of praise heaped on this disc. But hey, to each his own, right?
