This Brooklyn-based large (well, 7-member but sounds much bigger) funk/afrobeat combo does it right... The horns are tight, the rhythm section is right in the pocket... They've recently released their first, a self-titled full-length on Ubiquity Records.

Great stuff. I wonder how they'd be if they were to add some vocals over these tracks.
Sort of how the Los Angeles afro/funk band called Orgone recently added a great female vocalist. Quickly check out Orgone if you are unaware; one of the most underrated bands going these days in my opinion. Highly recommend this one:
