New Sounds of Scotland-Part 27: The Mademoiselle; Chris Devotion & The Expectations; Sur Nilsson
The Mademoiselle is a Glasgow three-piece consisting of Scott Blackwood, Tyler Collins, and David Sneddon. Their Bandcamp page labels their music alternative/grunge, but to me is is melodic guitar rock capable of laying down a slinky groove. And I love the ringing sound of the guitar. The three track album below is available for the download. I wouldn't ignore that offer if I were you. And "Ware Bitch from Hell (she will break my bones)" is a kick ass song.

How about some soul-tinged garage rock? Yes? Then listen to Glasgow's Chris Devotion & The Expectations (or "CD/EX"):
CD/EX is straightforward guitar rock with energy, swagger and pop sensibility. Should you care about such things, Titus Andronicus has given them the Titus seal of approval. The band just released a double A-side single with "A Modest Refusal" and "Tell The Girl" on Armellodie Records. You can stream it here:

Sur Nilsson is based in Utrecht, Netherlands, so your first question might be why they appear in the New Sounds of Scotland series. The answer is that Sur Nilsson is the current project of a young man from Glasgow, Daniel Mcguire, who now lives in the Netherlands. He was featured on an earlier New Sounds of Scotland post about his recording released under the name Two Zebras. I am a fan of those recordings, and happy to give his new project some exposure.
The recorded output so far appears to be a two track EP, and very nice tracks they are. Listen to them below and download them for free.
